Join the library for an online storytelling workshop with award-winning author David Robertson! Burnaby teens, ages 13–19, will have the chance to engage on the topics of visual literacy, Indigenous storytelling, and expressing personal journeys. The workshop will also be followed by a Q&A session moderated by Burnaby students.

Presenter Bio:

DAVID A. ROBERTSON was the 2021 recipient of the Writers’ Union of Canada Freedom to Read Award as well as the Globe and Mail Children’s Storyteller of the Year. He is the author of numerous books for young readers and has won the Governor General’s Literary Award twice, for his picture books When We Were Alone and On The Trapline, which also won the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award. The Barren Grounds, Book 1 of the middle-grade The Misewa Saga series, was a finalist for both the Governor General’s Literary Award and the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award, and has spent two and a half years on the Canadian Children’s national bestseller list. With works that span across forms and genres, from children’s to adult literature, David is concerned with positive Indigenous representation in literature, and the vital role that Story plays on the path towards healing and reconciliation.
