What’s New in the Search for Exoplanets and Extraterrestrial Life

May 11, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Since the first planet outside our solar system was discovered in 1995, about 4000 such exoplanets have been confirmed to orbit stars in our galaxy. A principal goal of this research has been to make progress towards answering the question: “are we alone?”. I will survey some of the more interesting recent discoveries in exoplanet research and consider the issues involved in determining the presence of extraterrestrial life.
