What’s New in the Search for Exoplanets and Extraterrestrial Life
Since the first planet outside our solar system was discovered in 1995, about 4000 such exoplanets have been confirmed to orbit stars in our galaxy. A principal goal of this research has been to make progress towards answering the question: “are we alone?”. I will survey some of the more interesting recent discoveries in exoplanet research and consider the issues involved in determining the presence of extraterrestrial life.
